Angels Falling

A Full Length Play

I’m in the workshop phase of a new play I am working on, titled “Angels Falling.” I’m currently a part of the Playwrights Lab with Jackalope Theatre here in Chicago. I’ve been lucky to have weekly workshop meetings to development this play, and I am so excited to share it with all of you. I’m currently planning on putting together a stage reading of the script in the upcoming months.

Log Line of the Show: When a young boy in the south blames an angel for the death of his girlfriend, Emma Stranton, a documentary filmmaker attempts to uncover the truth despite the communities hope to end the investigation.

Hometown

A Play About Returning

Full Length Play

Currently Writing

Hometown is a play about what it means to come home.

When James comes home for the first time in five years, he’s sitting at a kitchen table with his mom when she mentioned he should go see his ex-girlfriend Anna. The only problem is that Anna died four years before in a car accident. James reminds his mom, but she says Anna is working at a bar downtown. James goes to the bar and sees Anna working there. As Anna and James reconnect, he begins to question why he left home, and what could (or would) have happened if he stayed.

In Joseph Campell’s Hero with a Thousand Faces, he says the first step of a hero’s journey is not toward the destination but away from home. To begin your journey you must leave home. But what about those that don’t have the luxury to leave? Hometown examines what it means to stay, what it means to return, and what it costs us to leave. Hometown is a play about how we tell our own stories and how location affects us.

Ripstickin’ & Burpin’

A Solo Show

Performed at: The Second City, Upright Citizen’s Brigade, Brooklyn Comedy Collective

When confronted with a cancer diagnosis, Jake Griffith found himself looking back for any semblance of meaning in his short short life; from intense oversharing while making out, to a 13 year old trying to convince everyone he has Polio, to religious girlfriends leaving him for Jesus, or simply the joy of ripstickin’ & burpin’. This show explores how Jake’s perspective changed and blossomed when it was almost taken away.

Ripstickin’ is a deep dive into a cancer scare Jake had in the summer and fall of 2020. It examines loneliness at a time when loneliness was a given. How do you reach out for help when it seems like everybody needs it? How do you tell someone else you’re scared without having to feel it first?

Woven throughout the meditations on loneliness and the absurdity of modern life, Jake plays us a deep cut 1975 song possibly too many times, and poses the question of why we insist on adding meaning to suffering? Because does the two minute silence in “You” by the 1975 really mean something or is it just a way for us to get to the other side?

Not Bitter Nor Sweet

A Devised Theatre Production

Lazy Susan Theatre Company

Chicago Theatre Week - 2025

Whether it’s self love, platonic love, romantic love, love gained or love lost it has shaped us into who we are today. Come explore our deviser’s memories, dreams, and wishes and we ask each other the eternal question . . . what is love?

“The tone of the show is funny and quirky, but also very somber and thoughtful during various soliloquies. Which is what stands out about this production. . . Each time. It’s a great choice that is extremely effective and captivating.” - Alli Doubeck, Entertaining Chicago

“The already unbelievable world further crosses the threshold - telephone cords are strung across the stage, post-it notes shroud a character in technicolor - is inventive and compelling. Indeed, many of the elements required for strong, attention-grabbing theater are present throughout the performance. “- Charles Kenny, Newcity Stages
